The early designs for this project sought to adapt the existing house on this prestigious site within the St George’s Hill private Estate. It was an original Tennant House, but after much investigation, it proved to be uneconomic to adapt. The house was therefore redesigned and constructed from new.
The house was designed as a fully bespoke villa-style house, re-orientated on the site to take full advantage of the beautiful views. One of the most well-located properties on the Estate, overlooking the golf course, an exceptionally high standard of servicing and automation was installed and integrated throughout. The new design included extensive family and pool / spa areas, a generous stone porch, stone staircase and state-of-the-art sound system. The house was designed for extensive entertaining and guest accommodation. The new design included a professional temperature controlled wine cellar and additional wine storage.
Following the extensive necessary negotiations with the St George’s Hill Estate, successful consents were obtained from Weybridge Council. The rigors of the site and the constraints of the Estate were formidable, but the brief was fulfilled and well-executed.
Large emphasis was placed on maximising natural light and penetration of light into the house interior and generous volumes with overlooking galleries made interesting connections. The flow and sense of spaciousness within the house was a key design criteria.
