IWA has been greatly honoured by an invitation extended by Lord Andrew Adonis to attend a private tour of the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
IWA is delighted that the Full Planning Application and Listed Building Application for this important Grade A building by the renowned Regency architect, Archibald Simpson, has been approved by Inverurie Council. The proposals involved the complete refurbishment, re-harling and re-servicing of the property.
The new bespoke Classical stone porch has finally arrived and is now installed on our on-going construction site in the Chiltern Hills, Oxfordshire. The stone porch is one of the many new additions and enhancements to the full refurbishment of this 19th Century country house, set within an area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’.
The traditional cantilevered stone staircase, arranged over six storeys, is finally in place at our on-going Belgravia project - the extensive refurbishment of a Grade-II Listed House. The new staircase was designed and manufactured in partnership with The Stonemasonry Company.
Our colleague Freddie Koch has successfully completed her Part III Postgraduate Diploma at Westminster and is now a fully qualified Architect and since registered with the ARB. She has also joined the RIBA. Congratulations!
Our latest high-end refurbishment project in Notting Hill is progressing well. Significant works have been undertaken in the upper, lower and basement levels. The project features a part-new basement and refurbishment works to the staircases, including the Basement cantilevered stairs. Major structural works where implemented, to free up space and improve the ‘flow’ of the house. The creation of more generous living areas and a new larger opening to the rear garden result in an airy and well-designed house.
Our Director and senior members of our practice, were invited to participate in a joint presentation on Basement Planning and construction techniques at the legal firm, Blake Morgan. We attended Blake Morgan’s offices in Chancery Lane to jointly present the all-important planning and legal frameworks, combined with the best-practice construction techniques. The lecture formed part of an ongoing CPD and professional networking event, organised by Blake Morgan’s Construction Law Department. Our director, Ian Wylie, showcased a number of our completed basement projects and talked about the benefits and some of the issues relating to our past and present experiences with basement construction.
